Maritza
The fiery operetta "Maritza" by Imre Kálmán is considered the most "Hungarian" of his works. It is filled with national dances, melodies, and distinctive characters. First staged in 1924 at the Theater an der Wien, the operetta was an immense success. Its Gypsy-Hungarian romanticism and vibrancy left no one indifferent.
On our theater's stage, "Maritza" was performed in 1949, 1976, and 1994, featuring some of the finest artists of the time, including Ye. Dembska, O. Hlovatska, M. Dyomina, I. Ivanova, V. Frolova, N. Zavhorodnia, M. Vodyanoy, Yu. Dynov, M. Udod, V. Frolov, and M. Zavhorodny.
"Maritza" presents multiple love stories intertwined with intrigue, unexpected twists, and subtle humor. How can one resist the pleasure of following the plot's twists while enjoying the wonderful music of Imre Kálmán and the stunning voices of young, talented artists?
