Very soon in Odessa, Linkin Park will perform with a show, honor the memory of the late frontman Chester Bennington with an emotional concert, which will be attended by colleagues who have come to pay tribute and draw attention to the topic of mental health.
“Chester and I have always loved bringing people together and he was full of joy when our house was full of family, friends, children, dogs, cats, birds, turtles - the more the more fun - and he would love it all tonight. - says the wife of the former lead singer of the group.
Linkin Park's influence on contemporary rock cannot be overstated.
Rooted at the crossroads of aggressive metal and rhythmic hip-hop, Linkin Park has become one of the most successful bands of the early 21st century, combining elements of different genres, introducing hardcore rap, raucous punk, atmospheric electronics.
Although burdened with the often ridiculed designations of nu-metal and rap-rock genres, they soon transcended and became a more complex musical substance. Regardless of their direction, pain and catharsis remained at their core. The coolest works (albums) are Hybrid Theory (2000) and Meteora (2003), (A Thousand Suns of 2010), (One More Light 2017). Months after releasing their seventh and final album as a founding line-up, frontman Chester Bennington has passed away, closing the book in nearly two decades, which included five chart-topping albums and tens of millions of records sold worldwide.
Drummer Rob Burdon, guitarist Brad Delson, and lead / vocalist Mike Shinoda attended high school in Southern California where they formed the rap rock group Xero in 1996. Bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, singer Mark Wakefield and DJ Joseph Khan joined them soon after, and the band caught the attention of various labels during their Los Angeles gigs.
However, few companies showed interest in the Xero demo tape of the same name, which prompted Wakefield to leave the roster (he would later become Taproot manager again). When replacement vocalist Chester Bennington became soloist in 1998, sharing vocal duties with Shinoda in what became an important part of their signature sound, they renamed Hybrid Theory and released an EP of the same name. Still trying to find an audience, they finally caught the attention of Warner Bros. and chose a new name: Linkin Park, a misspelled reference to Lincoln Park in Santa Monica. Supported by VP Warner Bros. Jeff Blue's band entered the studio shortly thereafter with Don Gilmour to record what would become an internationally recognized worldwide hit.
